Fake Smile ~ Real Laughter (a poem two ways)

This month my writing community is doing a poem a day prompt. April first’s prompt was laughter. So here is the first poem. These will be likely not polished poems, as I only have one day to get them ready to post. I decided to attempt a poem that can be read two ways. What do you think of it?

You smile

When the tears run down your cheeks

Breaking in a hollow noise

The mask of lies that hide the parts of you you hate

You can’t breathe

There’s laughter so full of joy that

Moments like this remind you:

Life is real

And

Life is harsh

Is it worth it?
